iDiscrete can securely store your images and videos, in addition to other file types. Supported image extensions are JPG, PNG, BMP and GIF. Supported video extensions are 3GP, ASF, AVI, DIVX, DV, FLV, GXF, M2P, M2TS, M2V, M4V, MKV, MOOV, MOV, MP4, MPEG, MPEG1, MPEG2, MPEG4, MPG, MPV, MT2S, MTS, MXF, OGM, OGV, PS, QT, RM, RMVB, TS, VOB, WEBM, WM and WMV. Additionally, TXT, DOC, RTF, XLS, PPT, PDF and MP3file formats are also supported. There are three different methods to import your content into iDiscrete:

1) Importing existing content on your device

You can easily import the content that already exists on your iOS device into iDiscrete. This content may come from the Camera Roll or the Media Library.

a) Adding content from the Camera Roll
Adding images or videos from the Camera Roll (aka the "Photos app") is easy. If you would like to import your content into the default "Pictures" or "Videos" folders, simply start at the Home Screen and touch the "iD" icon in the top right corner. Choose "Add from Camera Roll" from the displayed list of options. Navigate to and then select the content you would like to import, and tap "Transfer" when you are done. That's it! If you would prefer to import your content into specific user-created folders, rather than the default folders, simply initiate the transfer from within that folder (again, by pressing the "iD" icon in the top right corner). Remember, while user-created folders may contain any file type (images, videos, PDF, XLS, etc.) only content of the specified type may exist in the default folders (i.e. only pictures in the "Pictures" folder, etc.)

b) Adding content from the Media Library
In addition to importing items from your Camera Roll, you can also import content ( .mp3s, podcasts, etc.) from your Media Library (aka the "iPod app") into iDiscrete. As before, if you would like the content to be placed in the default folders, simply initiate the transfer from the Home Screen by tapping the "iD" icon in the top right corner. Choose "Add from Media Library" from the displayed list of options, and then navigate to and select the content you would like to import. If, on the other hand, you would prefer to import your content directly into a user-created folder, just initiate the transfer from within that folder.

Note: If you want to move content into iDiscrete, rather than copy it, you will simply need to manually delete the original content from its original location (Apple won't let us do this for you…)

2) iDiscrete File Manager (Wi-Fi connection required)

Content not already on the iPhone may be imported into iDiscrete by using the iDiscrete File Manager. To be successful, the iPhone must be connected to a Wi-Fi network, which must also have connected to it a computer (PC or Mac) with a web browser. Access the File Manager by choosing "Start File Manager" from the "iD" menu anywhere in iDiscrete. You must leave the iPhone powered on with the File Manager screen open during the entire transfer process (the app will automatically disable Autolock, if you have it enabled). Then, from the computer which contains your content, open a web browser and navigate to the URL listed on your iPhone screen. You will see the list of folders on your iDiscrete Home Screen, and within each you will find the files/subfolders in that particular folder. To upload new content, press the "Browse" icon in your web browser, navigate to your content, and then press "Upload" to send it to your iPhone. It's that easy! Complete the process by pressing "Done" on the File Manager screen on your iPhone.

iDiscrete also supports TXT, DOC, RTF, XLS, PPT and PDF file formats. All are read-only, except TXT, which may be edited directly on the iPhone. By default, TXT and DOC files are placed in the Text folder, and the rest create a specific folder for that file type when uploaded. Or, if you wish to keep these types of files in your own user-created folders, that works too.

File transfers using the iDiscrete File Manager may be in the computer-to-iPhone direction, as well as in the iPhone-to-computer direction. If you wish to save content from your iPhone to your computer, simply click the "Save" icon next to that file in your web browser. Using iDiscrete in this way allows your iPhone to serve as a mass storage device, with the added benefit of Touch Sequence Protection™ for your files. Uploading any files via the File Manager that iDiscrete does not recognize will result in the creation of a "Misc." folder on the Home Screen where these files will be stored. These files can be pulled off the iPhone and onto any computer with a web browser and a Wi-Fi connection.

3) Upload using iTunes File Sharing

The iTunes File Sharing feature is a convenient way to load multiple files into iDiscrete at once, but it also poses a potential security risk. Anyone who has access to your computer while your iPhone is plugged in could pull files out of iDiscrete using iTunes, without any passcode or Touch Sequence required. To prevent this, iDiscrete does not leave content in the unprotected iTunes location, but rather imports the content into its own folders every time the app is launched. So, each time you load iDiscrete, it quickly checks the iTunes File Sharing folder to see if anything new is there (you'll see it say "Synchronizing" while it does this). If so, it will copy this content over and delete the originals, leaving the File Sharing folder empty. Depending on the amount of content in this folder, this can take some time to complete.

The process for using iTunes File Sharing to load content into iDiscrete is simple. With your iPhone connected to your computer and with iTunes running, select your device in the left hand column of iTunes under the "Devices" heading. Then, select the "Apps" tab. Scroll to the bottom and you will see the apps you currently have installed that support File Sharing. iDiscrete will be one of them (it will display as "iD"). Simply select it and drag all the content you'd like into the "iDiscrete Documents" box on the right. That's it! Next time you launch iDiscrete, it will import everything you just uploaded into the app.

If you need the content uploaded via iTunes File Sharing to go into a particular folder (rather than the default "Videos" and "Pictures" folders) that can be accomplished by following these steps:

1) Plug your iPhone into your computer and allow it to sync.

2) With your device still plugged in, open up iDiscrete on your iPhone and navigate to the folder you wish to upload to.

3) Tap the "iD" icon in the top right corner, and choose "Start File Manager".

4) Leave your device unlocked, and set it down. Go back to iTunes on your computer.

5) From here, proceed like normal, using iTunes File Sharing to add your content.

Once iTunes has finished syncing, press the "Done" icon in the top right corner of your iPhone screen. This will import everything you just uploaded via iTunes into your desired folder in iDiscrete. (Note: We realize this is a fairly awkward way to accomplish this task, and we're working on streamlining it for a future version of iDiscrete.)
