How do I convert video into an iPhone friendly format? (MP4, M4V or MOV)

It is left up to you to convert your videos into a format the iPhone can play. If you would like a suggestion, we really like Handbrake:

http://www.handbrake.fr

It is free, easy to use and can handle most kinds of video. Make sure you click the "iPhone and iPod Touch" preset on the far right. If you have a device with a Retina display, feel free to double the video width to 960, rather than 480.

Why is iDiscrete stuck on the "Copying..." screen after using iTunes File Sharing to import content?

Loading lots of content at once via iTunes means that iDiscrete will take longer to load the next time you launch, as it is importing all your files to the app. Depending on the quantity and resolution of your content, iDiscrete might take a while to finish importing everything. In rare cases, iDiscrete may even crash during this procedure. If this occurs, please try relaunching the app until it can work through all the files, or remove the files that are still visible in iTunes and try again in smaller batches.

I'm getting connection errors when directing my web browser to the given URL for the iDiscrete File Manager. What gives?

First, a very simple check: Make sure your iPhone and computer are connected to the SAME Wi-Fi network, and that it is your personal home network (not your Wi-Fi at work, or a hotel, or from your neighbor across the street). Assuming this is the case, and you are still getting connection timeouts from your browser, 99% of the time a reboot of your iPhone and computer will clear up the problem. If it does not, try opening up port 8080 in your wireless router, and/or disabling your router's firewall.

Why does it take so long for the thumbnails to load when I'm viewing the contents of a folder?

This loading time begins to get noticeable when there is a large amount of content inside a single folder, especially videos and high-resolution images. To alleviate this, rather than keeping all your content in a single folder, consider spreading it around among multiple folders. This will cut down on the thumbnail load time in any specific folder.
